With profound sadness and deep sorrow, Egbe Omo Yoruba Western Cape announces the untimely passing of our esteemed member, Elder Ayorinde Adeyoju, affectionately known as AY. He peacefully transitioned from this world on 24th October 2024 after suffering a sudden heart attack. His departure has left an irreplaceable void in our community, and all who knew him will deeply feel his absence.

Ẹgbẹ́ Ọmọ Yoruba Western Cape, widely recognized as one of the pioneering and most influential organizations preserving Yoruba cultural heritage in South Africa, mourns the loss of this remarkable individual who contributed significantly to our growth. His dedication to upholding our traditions and values and tireless community-building efforts have left an indelible mark on our organization’s legacy.

As proud Yorubas residing in South Africa, we stand firmly united in grief and solidarity with Elder Adeyoju’s bereaved family, cherished friends, and the entire Ẹgbẹ́ Ọmọ Yoruba community in Western Cape during this period of profound loss and remembrance. His warm smile, wise counsel, and unwavering commitment to fostering unity within our community will forever remain in our hearts.

Elder Ayorinde was born on the 26th of December, 1969. Throughout his life, he exemplified the true spirit of Omoluabi, Ubuntu and brotherhood, touching countless lives with his generosity and kindness. He will be laid to rest on the 11th of December 2024. Join us to say goodbye to a loving husband, father, and friend between 6 pm and 10 pm at Maitland Hall, Voortrekker Road, Cape Town. We invite all who knew him to come together and celebrate his remarkable life and lasting legacy.
