200 Youngsters for 3rd Ibadan Cycling Tournament

More than 200 youngsters will participate in the 3rd Ibadan Children’s Cycling Competition on Saturday.

The Chief Executive Officer of Lapet Feats, Olawale Samson, said in a statement that the event was being organised in collaboration with Oyo State Cycling Association and Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

The tournament will feature four children’s categories –for Toddlers (Ages 0-4), Kids (Ages 5-9), Pre-Teens (Ages 10-14), Youth (Ages 15-18) and the Special Race for Parents, Coaches, and Stakeholders.

“The cycling competition, with the theme: “Cycling as a Tool for Healthy Living”, will hold from 7:30 a.m. on Saturday at the New Airport road, Alakia Ibadan

“We’re thrilled to invite parents, coaches, and stakeholders to participate and show off their cycling skills

“Join us for a fun-filled morning of cycling, fitness and community boding: Get ready to pedal,” the organisers said.

Samson said that the Police, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other law enforcement agencies have assured of adequate protection during the competition.

According to him, participants are children and adults with passion for cycling drawn from Oyo, Ogun, Lagos, Osun and Kwara States.

Among sponsors of the tournament are Events and More, Nisad Photos as well as Emak Gym and Wellness.

He said that the tournament was in preparation for the f for the 2025 World Cycling Day.

First observed in 2018, the World Bicycle Day celebrates the bicycle as a simple, affordable, reliable, clean, environmentally-fit and sustainable means of transportation that can serve as a means of transportation and access to education, healthcare and sports.

Walking and cycling can also provide a form of transportation for the urban poor, while reducing the risk of heart disease, stroke, certain types of cancer, diabetes and even death.(www.amatropics.com)
